Information Collected

-Upon registration we collect your email address and birth date.

-We also collect country, gender and 'computer information', such as the computer operating system (e.g. Windows OS or Mac OS), the user's IP address, the web browser as well as information collected by cookies (a cookie is a small text file that is placed in the user's computer browser and helps to store their preferences. You can enable your browser to reject cookies but this may impair the functioning of some aspects of the site). Personal information may be linked to information obtained through the use of cookies.

-We may use other coding to collect anonymous information such as page views, promotion views and advertising responses.

-Users aged 13 and over and users under the age of 13 with verifiable parental consent will have the opportunity to customize features on the site and to post information (e.g. diaries, forums etc.). Users are not permitted to post any personal information (as detailed in our 'Terms and Conditions' and 'Honeyzweb Rules'). Users who break this rule may be expelled from Honeyzweb. We take this measure to protect their and other users' safety.

-We respect the privacy of children, and do not collect any more personal information than reasonably necessary to enable them to participate in the activities we offer at our website.
-Honeyzweb takes user's privacy very seriously. We are committed to keeping your information safe and will not reveal any of your personal information to third-parties.

-Honeyzweb adheres to the requirements as set in the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Rule. The Rule provides generally that an operator must obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting any personal information from a child, unless the collection fits into one of the "email exceptions" for the collection of online contact information. These exceptions include:"collecting a child's and a parent's online contact information in order to send the child periodic communications, such as online newsletters, site updates, or password reminders. Under this exception, immediately after the initial response to the child and before making any additional response to the child, the operator must make reasonable efforts to ensure that the parent receives notice and is informed of the opportunity to opt-out of further use of the information collected. Under this limited exception, the operator is not required to obtain the parent's affirmative consent, and the parent must contact the operator to discontinue repeated communications."

In line with the above point, Honeyzweb will also collect the parent's email address of all users under the age of 13 years for the purpose of sending a direct notice to parents via email. This notice will state that we have collected the child's online contact information, that the parent may direct us to delete the child's information and have no further contact with the child, and explain how to do this. The notice will also indicate that if the parent fails to respond, Honeyzweb may use the child's online contact information for the purpose stated in the online direct notice.

-Please note that parents may consent to the above collection and use of information without necessarily consenting to the disclosure of personal information to third parties (note however, that Honeyzweb does not at present reveal any personal information to third parties).

How Collected Information is Used

-Honeyzweb will never reveal users' personal information to other users or make it visible on the site (users aged 13 and over and users under the age of 13 with verifiable parental consent may make postings on the site but they are forbidden to post any personal information - see section above).

-We use your personal information for our internal purposes, which include: sending you an email to activate your account, to send you occasional communications, such as online newsletters, site updates, special announcements or password reminders. Every email we send you will contain instructions on how to be removed from our mailing list. This is so that you have complete control over what emails you receive from us.

-We may use your 'computer information' to personalise your experience, and to track your usage on the site.

-We may disclose anonymous site usage statistics to third parties, like advertisers. However, we will never disclose any of your personal information.

-In the event that Honeyzweb is sold or transferred to another entity, we may transfer all information collected to the acquiring entity.

-We may disclose all information collected when legally required to do so, for example during a governmental or law enforcement investigation, or to protect ourselves against misuse or unauthorised use of the website. We may also disclose personal information in order to limit our legal liability, to protect or defend our rights or property, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or others.
